From Schoolgirl to Soul Seeker: A Bucket List Story

Bucket listIt's a collection of experiences and dreams you want to achieve in your lifetime. I was fascinated by this concept when I was in school. The schoolgirl in me used to write down some things on her bucket list. Today, it's been 13 years since I finished school, and I still have the bucket list I made in 2018. Although I created this list seven years ago, I remember that some of those dreams belonged to that schoolgirl.

It felt great to read the entire bucket list and see that I had completed many of the wishes. It reminded me of how much of a dreamer I was and how full of life I felt. This is a new phase of life. Knowingly or unknowingly, the child inside me remembers those wishes even without referring to that written document of the bucket list.

I am working towards fulfilling the remaining items on my bucket list. Some I’ve forgotten along the way, and some I still need to work on. This is a truly interesting and fulfilling exercise to understand yourself and the life you want to live.

Today, I have different priorities, new interests, and new learnings. I think this is a good time to reflect upon the bucket list I made and add some new goals to the existing ones. I believe everyone should try creating a bucket list. However far or impossible things may seem, you can still include them and work toward them if they’re truly important to you.

It feels amazing when you accomplish something from your list. It also helps you understand yourself better and brings clarity about what’s essential for you to feel alive. I created my bucket list with non-attachment. I seized the opportunities when they knocked on my door. I’m hopeful and enthusiastic about fulfilling the remaining dreams.

A bucket list can include anything from small things you’ve always wanted to do but couldn’t because of certain limitations, to your biggest dreams. It can include heartfelt experiences, moments that shift your perspective on life and death, actions that feel rebellious or non-conservative, things that make you feel powerful, and efforts that improve the quality of life for yourself and those around you. It can include contributions to the environment and the community. It can be about touching the lives of others, including any creature on this planet.

So let’s all look within ourselves and ask: What is our quest? What does our soul seek? What can we include in our bucket list? What can we do before time slips away?
