Dear Zindagi Movie Review
Dear Zindagi Movie Review
I recently watched the movie Dear Zindagi. The film revolves around a successful woman who is unable to sleep many nights after a heartbreak. She starts taking therapy and begins to unfold her life. The movie reminds us to appreciate life, introspect, live unapologetically, forgive our parents, forgive ourselves, take charge of our own lives, break free from orthodox constraints, normalize genuine mistakes, learn from them, and be kind to ourselves and others. The film has this beautiful dialogue that says we often choose the difficult path because we believe difficult paths are the right ones, the ones that lead to important things in life. But when we have the option to choose an easier path-especially when we’re not ready for the hard one-why shouldn’t we take it? It struck me that we often punish ourselves by choosing the harder route.
We are often prisoners of our past, allowing it to spoil the present and haunt our future. I once heard that forgetfulness is bliss-our brain is smart enough to forget the things that harm us. Yet we keep reminding ourselves and never let those wounds truly heal.
Albert Einstein said it’s foolish to do the same thing every day and expect different outcomes. If we reflect and understand ourselves, we can certainly grow beyond our mistakes. We restrain ourselves from expressing hurt, anger, and hate. We may not laugh out loud or cry our hearts out. These emotions need an outlet, and we must understand that it’s healthy to express them rather suppress them. From childhood, we’re taught not to express such feelings, and as we grow up, we don't know how to express love and kindness either.
Our society makes rules to control and define us, but when someone suffers from mental health issues, the same society labels them as mad or abnormal. Why can't we treat mental health just like physical health? After all Health is holistic.
This film also touches on the idea of recognizing the patterns we see in our lives. We should really think about those patterns because genius is knowing when to stop.
This movie is warm and beautiful. It explores various aspects of life in the most heartfelt way. It helps us rediscover life, find purpose, and teaches us to live fearlessly. It reminds us to never lose the inner child within and to thank Zindagi for the ups and downs that make it truly worth living.
